Description: Trinity Church, Newport, presents its second annual Strawberry Festival, from 11am-7pm. Come visit this historic landmark overlooking Queen Anne Square and the Newport waterfront and enjoy homemade strawberry shortcake, fresh-squeezed lemonade, music, craft vendors, and tours. Trinity Church dates to 1726 and has been host to such dignitaries as George Washington, Queen Elizabeth II, and Nobel laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The festival will be held rain or shine.

Description: A Festival of friendship between Newport and Japan that offers a variety of events emphasizing both Japanese and art and culture.The Black Ships Festival offers a variety of events that emphasize both Japanese art and culture. Events include a formal Gala, Japanese Arts & Crafts such as Origami and Ikebana; Martial Arts, and a Japanese Tea Ceremony. A highlight will be the Taiko Drums! The Black Ships Festivals in Newport and in its Japanese Sister City Shimoda, commemorate this historic event with a celebration of friendship. This year also celebrates the 52nd anniversary of the Sister City relationship between Newport and Shimoda, Japan.
